Special Educational Needs

At Wrekin View we are aware that sometimes children may need additional support within the classroom.

If we recognise that a child may require some additional support we will contact parents at the earliest opportunity in order to discuss their child’s individual needs. It may be agreed at this time to put the child on to the Special Educational Needs register, a list of children who receive additional support. When a child is put on the register, an Individual provision map will be written by the class teacher, detailing any extra provision the child is receiving, and this will be shared with parents, usually at parent meetings..

Children may sometimes be referred to outside agencies, such as Occupational Therapists, Speech therapists or Learning support Advisory teachers in order to gain advice about how best to support the childs needs in school. Advice given by outside agencies will be included on the child’s provision map.
